Fujitsu opens new office with 35 engineers in Braunschweig, Germany, to boost its Communications Business.

Recruitment of 35 engineers expected to open new opportunities and strengthen footprint in Optical Long Haul market

Langen, Germany, June 05, 2014 – Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe (FSEU) today announced the opening of a new office in Braunschweig, Germany. The newly-hired employees will be integrated into the existing structures of Fujitsu Semiconductor“s Communications Business Unit with its offices in Langen and Munich (Germany), Maidenhead (UK) and Milan (Italy). This move will significantly strengthen the position of Fujitsu in the Optical Long Haul market and add resources to address global markets.

The approximately 35 new employees – engineers for analog design, digital design, verification, testing, application support and marketing – will enable FSEU to address the high market demand for its communications solutions and extend the business to new markets like Core Switch and Router. FSEU also recently completed the expansion of its advanced mixed signal laboratory, R&D and test site in Maidenhead.

„The skill set and expertise our new colleagues in Braunschweig bring to the company are a perfect match for our needs and will be instrumental in helping us meet customer demand for next-generation, industry-leading Communications System on Chip solutions,“ says Manfred Mettendorff, Director of the Communications Business Unit at Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe. „In particular, their experience with state-of-the-art process technology will help accelerate the launch of world-leading network transceivers utilizing Fujitsu“s upcoming ADC and DAC IP in 14nm process, already under development at our site in Maidenhead.“

„We strongly believe that the addition of this resource is a key strategic step to growing our Communications Business and will strengthen our market footprint and our standing with all major customers,“ says Brendan Mc Kearney, President at Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe. „It further strengthens our European team as the global centre of excellence for this business and is clear evidence of our long-term commitment to customers in these markets.“
