STÜKEN Shanghai doubles its production site

With turnover expected to grow significantly over the next few years and with many new projects in the pipeline, STÜKEN Shanghai plans to double its production site by the end of 2019.

Presently STÜKEN Shanghai has a production area of 3,000 sqm. STÜKEN Shanghai forecasts a significant growth of turnover for the coming years as several projects are still in the pipeline. Like the other production sites of the STÜKEN group before, the Shanghai facility that was built in 2011 has now outgrown its physical capacity. STÜKEN North America almost tripled its initial plant size in 2015, STÜKEN Czech Republic followed by doubling its production site in 2016. Now STÜKEN Shanghai plans to more than double its production area. Construction started in March 2019, completion of the new building is planned for December 2019. „We will invest EUR3.5 million and not only create more space for the production of high precision deep-drawn components, but also for toolmaking and warehousing“, explains Dr. Hubert Schmidt, CEO of the STÜKEN group. „It is unusual for us that a production plant is designed as a two-story building. Our value-adding processes, e.g. deburring, cleaning and nondestructive testing, will move to the top floor. We will employ state-of-the-art material conveyor systems at every end of the building. This will enable an optimum material flow and high space utilization. The high-tech concept also includes heat pumps and the use of renewable energy.“

„At the moment, we operate 11 transfer presses and 7 stamping presses for progressive die tooling.“ says Wolfgang Grewe, General Manager of STÜKEN Shanghai. „In combination with our wide range of value-adding processes, our customers benefit from ready-to-use products. These also include component assemblies and processes like laser welding and resistance welding.“ Over 90% of STÜKEN Shanghai´s turnover is generated within China. The majority of products is sold to the automotive industry, especially into applications such as fuel management, drivetrain and brake actuation, where STÜKEN has long-standing expertise.

STÜKEN Shanghai is located in the southeast of Shanghai, about 50 km from the city center and only 20 minutes south of Pudong airport. The facility is certified according to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.
