National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds: Accessible internet site with CMS from e-Spirit

Focus on accessibility, user-friendliness and integration capability

Dortmund, July 10, 2012 – The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds („GKV-Spitzenverband“), the central organization that represents the interests of the statutory health and nursing care insurance providers in Germany, has revised its online presence, both technically and visually, and opted for the FirstSpirit content management system from e-Spirit (<a href="http://www.e-Spirit.com)“>www.e-Spirit.com). The relaunch was focused on the accessibility of the web pages and on achieving a high degree of user friendliness. Apart from the editorial content of the web sites, the GKV-Spitzenverband also uses the CMS to manage more than 2,500 documents, with which the central organization informs about all issues, guidelines and changes to health and nursing care provisions on its internet site and the connected theme portals. The target groups of the online offering includes contractual partners, service providers and manufacturers in the health and care industry as well as journalists and politicians, who in future will be able to reach the correct content faster. The integration of a high-performance search based on the open source search engine Solr also helps to achieve this. The complex information offering is „very readily accessible“ to people with disabilities. This is the conclusion drawn by BITV-Test, which assesses the accessibility of the GKV-Spitzenverband web pages accordingly. The new website and the implementation of the CMS were carried out by the e-Spirit partner interactive tools GmbH.

Central content integration platform

For the GKV-Spitzenverband, the FirstSpirit CMS operates as a content integration platform. The editors therefore have a central tool with a simple, intuitive user interface, via which they can not only create, maintain and deploy editorial content via different output channels, but also integrate content from connected systems into the web projects, without having to switch between different applications. In future, the FirstSpirit AppCenter will be used as and when needed to very easily and quickly integrate any applications required into the editing interface. „This future capability and openness, alongside the outstanding usability, were the decisive criteria for our choice“, say Anja Härschel and Volckert John, who are responsible for the relaunch of the websites in the GKV-Spitzenverband communication department. Now that the relaunch of the main site (www.gkv-spitzenverband.de) has been completed, other internet sites of the organization are to be set up anew with the FirstSpirit CMS.
