A new online marketplace, cad-software.eu, has launched across the European Union, offering engineers, architects and manufacturers genuine pre-owned perpetual licenses for industry-standard CAD and CAM software – at prices well below those of new licenses, and without any subscription commitment.The catalogue covers AutoCAD, Inventor and 3ds Max from Autodesk, SolidWorks and CATIA from Dassault Systemes, and Vectorworks and Allplan from Nemetschek. cad-software.eu deliberately offers only perpetual licenses: customers buy once and own the software indefinitely.The business model rests on settled European Union law. In its 2012 ruling in UsedSoft v. Oracle (Case C-128/11), the European Court of Justice confirmed that the exhaustion principle applies to software
licenses lawfully placed on the EU market – including those originally distributed by download. Buyers of pre-owned licenses are entitled to use them on the same terms as the original purchaser.“For more than a decade, the legal framework has been clear,“ said Dipl.-Kfm.
